In 1917 Puget Mill Company began to sell off five-acre tracts of logged land in what would become Alderwood Manor. To encourage sales, a 30-acre demonstration farm was constructed. The farm included a hatchery, gardens, and orchards. Alderwood Manor became one of the largest egg producing regions during the 1920s, but when the Great Depression hit many of the farmers no longer could make a living and were forced to sell their land. The demonstration farm closed in 1933. In 1959 the City of Lynnwood was incorporated, and thereafter many of the farms of Alderwood Manor were subdivided and became part of the growing city.
