Order an ImageA group of auto racing enthusiasts formed the Northwest Auto Track Association in 1906 and held regular auto races in Tacoma. By the 1920s, both cars and racing were even more popular. Ken Schoenfeld (in suit), whose family ran the Standard Furniture Company, seems to have been an avid auto racing promoter.
In this photo, he stands on 5th Avenue with another man behind racing car number 7, with Denny Hill in the background. Driver Mario Bianchi sits behind the wheel.
