Order an Image
Sumner, Washington, is the oldest town in the Puyallup Valley. The area was settled in the early 1850s, and by the 1910s, it had developed into a center of berry growing and dairy farms. This photo shows downtown Sumner in 1925. The small object which appears to float just to the right of the upper center in the photo is a streetlight, suspended over the intersection by wires.
