Redmond School, circa 1920
Order an ImageBefore 1888, Redmond school children attended classes in a small log house. During the next ten or so years, the town lost two schoolhouses to fire. Classes were moved to the small wooden Congregational Church. Redmond continued to use the church off and on for classrooms even after the school district built a larger two-story building in 1908.
This photo, probably taken around 1920, shows the old church building (right) and the 1908 schoolhouse. In 1922, the school district built a large new brick schoolhouse to replace the older buildings.
