Ice hockey team from the University of Washington, circa 1921
Order an ImageThe University of Washington added ice hockey to its roster of men's "minor sports" in 1921. Although the hockey program received no money that year, the team played two games against the University of British Columbia. A local hockey professional coached the team and practices were held downtown in the Seattle Arena. In this photo, probably taken in 1921, members of the University of Washington ice hockey team pose indoors wearing skates, gloves, and pads.
