The Marine Hospital in Seattle was completed in 1932, and opened in 1933, serving veterans, merchant seamen, the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Light House Service, and "federal compensation cases" (the poor and indigent). Now the Pacific Tower, and previously the Pacific Medical Center, the 16-story building is located on Beacon Hill in Seattle, at 1200 12th Avenue South. Designed by Carl Frelinghuysen Gould of the architectural firm Bebb and Gould, with assistance from the John Graham Company, in the Art Deco style, the complex includes the main building and six smaller buildings, which were originally quarters for officers but have since been converted into laboratory and office space.

This image of the facility was taken facing northwest towards downtown Seattle, with Elliott Bay in the distance. Several other Seattle landmarks are visible in the image, including the clock tower of King Street Station, the King County Courthouse, and the Smith Tower, at that time the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. The Pacific Tower complex is on the National Register of Historic Places and has been recognized as a landmark by the City of Seattle. Owned by the City of Seattle through the Pacific Hospital Preservation and Development Authority (PHPDA) since 1981, as of 2018 the building is occupied by offices for the State of Washington as well as Seattle Central Community College's health care training program.
