Frank Corbett "The Flash" Foyston (1891-1966) was a Canadian-born hockey player who became a major figure in early Seattle hockey. Foyston started his career with the Toronto Blueshirts, then moved to Seattle in 1915 to join the Seattle Metropolitans, an expansion team of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA). Foyston played nine seasons with the Metropolitans and led the team to its 1917 Stanley Cup victory, the first by a U.S. team. The Metropolitans disbanded following the 1923-24 season, and afterward Foyston played for the Victoria and Detroit teams, before retiring from playing in 1929. Afterward, Foyston had a successful hockey coaching career, including becoming the first coach and general manager of the Seattle Seahawks of the North West Hockey League. After retiring from coaching, Foyston remained in Seattle, and was regular presence at Seattle games. Frank Foyston was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1958.
