Mrs. Renton, 1916
Order an ImageCaptain William Renton (1818-1891) established a sawmill on Puget Sound in 1852, and started the Port Blakely Mill Company on Bainbridge in 1986. He also invested in Seattle real estate and nearby coal industries, and the coal town of Renton, Washington was named after him.
Captain Renton's wife Sarah died in 1890 and the couple continued to live in Port Blakely until their deaths, so it is unclear if the woman who is identified in this 1916 photo as "Mrs. Renton" was a relative.
