Order an ImageIn 1911, Alexander Pantages built a new Pantages Theatre in downtown Seattle, on the site of the old Plymouth Congregational Church. Like the other theaters in Pantages chain, the new theater showed movies and also featured live entertainment. The theater continued under various names until 1965, when it was torn down to build a parking garage.
This 1915 photo shows the Pantages Theatre Building, at the corner of Third Avenue and University Street. A large electric sign extending from the corner of the building spells PANTAGES in lightbulbs.
