Broadway High School, 1915
Order an ImageWhen Broadway High School was built in 1902, Seattle some residents complained that it was too large and a waste of public money. By 1904 the school had 1,700 students, and the building was already crowded. Broadway's colors were black and orange, and its mascot was a tiger. The school closed in 1946 and re-opened the same year as Edison Technical College.
This photo, taken in 1915, shows Broadway High School on the corner of Broadway and East Pine Streets in Capitol Hill. Today the building is a part of Seattle Central Community College.
