This January 8, 1903, receipt from the City of Seattle's Treasury Department was issued to a Jennie Kinney for a payment of $6.43. The fee was for the Local Improvement Tax, used to create roads, pavement, and sidewalks in Seattle. This payment was for Lot Six, Block Three, and the Street was Broadway and DeForest for the Nagles Addition. It was administered under District 34 and Ordinance 2309 and was installment number ten. Noted in pencil on the back "This finishes the payment of Broadway Grade".
Jennie Kinney was the wife of Chester Kinney, a pioneer real estate operator, and the two lived at 9400 35th Avenue S.W. in West Seattle for over twenty years. Jennie Kinney died January 8, 1936, at the age of 79.
