This north-facing photograph of downtown Seattle appears to have been taken from a tall building located at Fourth Avenue and Seneca Street. Several historic buildings can be seen in the image, as well as Lake Union in the distance. At about the center of the frame the ornate Coliseum Theater, opened in 1916, stands at Fifth Avenue and Pike Street. It was added to added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The large building jutting from the bottom right corner of the frame is the Olympic Hotel, which opened in 1924 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. The hotel is located on University Street, between Fourth and Fifth Avenues.
