Washington Mutual (WaMu) was incorporated as the Washington National Building Loan and Investment Association on Sept 25, 1889. It grew to be the United States' largest savings and loan association until its collapse in 2008. For Washington Mutual's 75th anniversary, customers 75 years old were honored guests at all the bank's offices on September 21, 1964.
