Washington Mutual (WaMu) was incorporated as the Washington National Building Loan and Investment Association on Sept 25, 1889. It grew to be the United States' largest savings and loan association until its collapse in 2008. This photo documents the company's location on Second Avenue a few years before it became Washington Mutual Savings Bank.

These quarters, on the ground floor of the Seattle National Bank building, were occupied for ten years (1911 to 1921) Note that the assets were $3,200,000.
