Rates and Rules of the Seattle General Hospital, circa 1910
Contact MOHAI to OrderEstablished in 1895, Seattle General Hospital was located at 909 Fifth Avenue in downtown Seattle from 1900-1971, and merged in 1978 with two other local hospitals to become the Swedish Medical Center.
The brochure pictured here details the rates and rules of Seattle General Hospital. It appears to have been printed after the 1900 move to Fifth Avenue and Marion Street, and before the 1938 end of student nurse training at the hospital. The guide specifies that stays in the hospital were charged to the patient at between $12-$28 per week, depending on if the patient stayed in a ward, or in a private room with private food service.
