Seattle entrepreneur Oliver Phelps Anderson (1859-1941) was the son of Alexander Jay Anderson (1832-1903), president of the Washington Territorial University (now University of Washington) from 1877-1882. Oliver trained as a draughtsman and by 1890 had started a civil engineering and map publishing business, O. P. Anderson & Company (later O. P. Anderson Map & Blue Print Company). An avid amateur photographer, Anderson took many scenic photographs of Washington State which he sold along with photographic supplies in the company he started around 1901, Anderson Supply Company. Oliver and his wife, novelist Ada (Woodruff) Anderson (1860-1956), had several children, one of whom, Maurice Phelps Anderson (1888-1970), was president of Anderson Supply Co. from about 1913 until about 1958.

The brochure pictured here contains a catalog of 28 different scenic images of Western Washington and Canada, all likely taken by Oliver Anderson. His company offered prints of the images ranging in size from 3 x 7 inches to 13 x 18.25 inches. Included in the circular is a separate page listing shipping rates. An ad that ran in a 1937 issue of "The Mountaineer," read "Not only photo supplies, but intelligent photographic information, and developing, printing, and enlarging for particular people."
