Ernest A. Fabi (1876-1939) was a well-known Seattle gardener and landscape architect. In 1898 he served during the Spanish American War with the 7th Illinois Infantry, Company I. Ernest married Jennie A Backe (1884-) in 1912, and he used their home and yard on Queen Anne Hill to display his many unique species of flowers and trees. There are magnolia trees planted in his honor at the Washington State Arboretum.
This portrait of Ernest was taken as he stands among flowers at his nursery near Seward Park at Eddy Street on Lake Washington.
