By 1918, the railroad and the Sunset Highway brought tourists to Snoqualmie Falls. Some stayed at Snoqualmie Falls Lodge or stopped off to enjoy one of the lodge's famous breakfasts. Across the river from the lodge was the Puget Sound Power & Light Company's hydroelectric generating station, built in the 1890s. The electrical station is still there, but Salish Lodge now occupies the site of the old Snoqualmie Falls Lodge.
