Order an Image
Businesswoman and philanthropist Dorothy Stimson Bullitt was born in Seattle in 1892 to C.D. and Harriet Stimson. Dorothy Stimson and A. Scott Bullitt married in 1918, and after two years moved back to Seattle. They spent several years renovating and refurbishing a spacious home in The Highlands located on property adjacent to her parent's home of Nordcliffe. In 1932, after the death of her husband, A. Scott Bullitt, Dorothy took on the management of the family’s real estate holdings and later ran the extensive KING broadcasting company.

In this photo, which may have been taken in the garden of their home, Dorothy Bullitt holds one of her children, probably the eldest Stimson.

Handwritten on sleeve: Mrs. Scott Bullitt.
