The Rialto Building (also called Rialto Block), seen here looking north on Second Avenue from Madison Street, was designed in 1893, by architects James N. Corner and Warren Porter Skillings. Over the years the building housed a number of important tenants, including the Seattle Public Library from 1896-1899, and Frederick & Nelson department store from 1897-1918. The building is no longer standing.
