Top of the Space Needle, Seattle World's Fair, 1962

Order an Image
The 605-foot Space Needle was one of the highlights of Century 21, the Seattle World's Fair. The Needle's color scheme followed the futuristic theme of the fair - Galaxy Gold for the roof, Astronaut White for the legs, Orbital Olive for the core, and Re-entry Red for the halo.

Here, workmen put the finishing touches on the roof and halo. The view is toward the southeast, with the Cascade Range in the far distance.

Handwritten on sleeve: Top of Space Needle.
