Seattle's Children's Orthopedic Hospital was founded by a group of affluent women to treat children with serious medical needs. Neighborhood guilds helped fund raise for the hospital, which was located on Queen Anne Hill. Carnivals and other community events took place, and this cookbook was produced as part of the North Queen Anne Guild's activities .

The volume begins with a letter from Mary Randolph, the secretary for Mrs. Calvin Coolidge, and Mrs. Coolidge's recipe contributions. Randolph writes that Mrs. Coolidge doesn't have a favorite recipe but is happy to send two for the cookbook: Coffee Souffle and Pineapple Salad. The cookbook includes many other recipes, as well as advertisements for local businesses and a full-color section at the back advertising Frigidaire products.
