Seattle High School Class of 1901

Order an Image
As the population of Seattle grew, so did the city's schools. The first school was called "Central School," a name that was applied to several different buildings as the original building was outgrown and a subsequent building burned down. In 1900, the older students of Seattle would have attended Seattle High School, located on the third floor of a building now referred to as Central School II. That building had been built in 1889 on 7th Avenue and Madison Street; it was demolished in 1953.

This photograph shows the members of the Seattle High School Class of 1901, with a small oval portrait of each of the 64 students. The names and some details of the students are listed on the back.
