UW student activity at Denny Field, Seattle, circa 1910
Order an ImageSometime around 1910, a group of people gathered at Denny Field, on the campus of the University of Washington, for an unidentified activity. Tightly-packed men and a few women have formed a human chain around a large hook, while others watch from the bleachers and sidelines. The number of men in the group wearing the beanie hats usually worn by freshmen suggests that this was a class-related activity or competition.
