This image of the construction of the temporary Naval Training Station on University of Washington campus, showing finished barracks, was taken on October 1, 1918. The training camp was active from August 1, 1917 to 1919, during which time over 5,000 mostly college students and graduates from University of Washington, Washington State College, and Oregon colleges, were trained for both naval and naval aviation units. The building in the background at the left edge of the frame is Miller Hall, built about 1916.
