This image of the Dexter Horton Building in Seattle was taken during construction on April 16, 1924. When it opened the following year, the 15-story building at Second Avenue and Cherry Street, was one of the largest office buildings in the country at 328,000 square feet. A protected historic landmark since 1993, the building was named for Pioneer Dexter Horton, who arrived in Seattle in 1853 and founded the city's first bank in 1870.
Visible on the right edge of the frame is a sign listing building financier S. W. Straus & Co., architect and engineer John Graham, general contractors Puget Sound Bridge & Dredging Co., and the sub-contractors and suppliers involved in the building.
