Harry Whitney Treat arrived in Seattle when the city was flush with Gold Rush earnings and invested in large tracts of real estate north of Ballard. As construction commenced on the 30-room Treat home atop Queen Anne Hill, at 1 West Highland Drive, he developed the area of Loyal Heights and Loyal Beach (now Golden Gardens). They were named after the youngest daughter, Loyal Treat. The Treats were life-long Anglophiles and kept a stable of horses and carriages at both their Queen Anne residence and country farm.
