This outfit was worn by Ed Wyatt on the Seattle television comedy show Almost Live! which aired from 1984 to 1999 on KING5 in Seattle. In its earliest years, Almost Live! was like a local version of the Tonight Show, but in 1989 the format changed to be a 30-minute sketch comedy show. Cast member Ed Wyatt was on Almost Live! from 1989 to 1994, and among his characters was “Rolf,” the co-host of a segment called “The Grateful Gourmet.” As Grateful Dead fans who could barely remember where they were or what they were doing, Wyatt and Nancy Guppy muddled their way through stoner-friendly cooking tips and existential musings. Wyatt grew up in Portland and studied English at Stanford University. The Almost Live! cast all had to be writers as well as performers, so while Wyatt frequently played dazed hippies, his writing was known for clever wordplay and sharp topical jokes.
