This skirt is printed with a delightful pattern that celebrates the 1962 World’s Fair in Seattle. It features images of the Space Needle, Monorail, arches of the US Science Pavilion, and plumes of water spraying from the International Fountain. Gerry Abbott, who also created fashion illustrations for the Seattle Times, drew sketches for the pattern. The skirt is from a series of World’s Fair themed dresses and separates made in Seattle by Foster-Hochberg Manufacturing. The print was done in three colors schemes—green and blue; pink, red and blue; and yellow, orange and brown like this one. In the 1950s and 1960s, Foster-Hochberg was one of Seattle’s leading clothing manufacturers, specializing in casual sportswear for women and teen girls.
