Coveralls from Marco Marine, 1980

These coveralls from Marco Marine were worn by multiple cast members on the Seattle comedy show Almost Live! which aired from 1984 to 1999 on King 5 in Seattle. They belonged to Bill Nye (b. 1955) who had them from an engineering job at Marine Construction & Design Co., also known as Marco Marine. Nye worked at their shipyard in Ballard, programming valves for equipment that separated oil from water. The coveralls were then used for a variety of working-class characters on Almost Live! including Joe Guppy in “Plumber!” and Bill Stainton in “Cops in Kent.” Of course, because of the embroidery on the front, the character always had to be named “Bill” or “Billy.”
