Green bow tie, used in "Fabulous Wetlands" educational video, 1989
In 1989 the Washington State Department of Ecology wanted to create a fun, educational video about wetlands. They hired Bill Nye (b. 1955), based on his wildly popular science demonstrations on the King 5 TV comedy show Almost Live! Producing “Fabulous Wetlands” were Erren Gottlieb and former Almost Live! staff member Jim McKenna. Gottleib, McKenna, and Nye would go on to co-create the Bill Nye the Science Guy TV show, which was filmed and produced in Seattle.
