Wig and crown worn by Gertrude on J.P. Patches show, ca. 1970-2000

J. P. Patches (Julius Pierpont Patches) was a clown portrayed by Seattle entertainer Chris John Wedes (1928-2012) in "The J.P. Patches Show" on KIRO-TV from 1958 to 1981. Bob Newman (1932-2020) played Gertrude, J.P.'s girlfriend, on the show. Gertrude was known for her colorful dresses, red wig made from a mop, and numerous hand-made crowns.
