Novelty floaty pen from Archie McPhee retail store, ca. 2010
Order an ImageMark Pahlow opened the first Archie McPhee novelty store in 1983 in the Fremont neighborhood. The store soon became famous for selling toys and gag gifts, like the rubber chicken floating in this pen, and other novelties often related to local iconic characters or features such as action figures of Seattle librarian Nancy Pearl and J.P. Patches.
