Colorblock shirt worn by John Keister on Almost Live! 1991

John Keister was the host of the Seattle television comedy show Almost Live! which aired from 1984 to 1999 on KING5 in Seattle. In its earliest years, Almost Live! was like a local version of the Tonight Show. When John Keister took over as host in 1988, he struggled with a format which had been designed around his predecessor Ross Shafer. In 1989 Almost Live! became a 30-minute sketch comedy show, with Keister doing an opening monologue and a news segment. Keister changed his look too. Previously he had worn suits to host but opted instead for colorful shirts paired with black jeans. In the early 90s the shirts were provided by the Barneys New York store in Seattle. This shirt was also worn by Bill Nye in the sketch “Signing a Band.”
