Trick water ski from Century 21, Seattle World's Fair, 1962
Order an ImageThe Seattle World's Fair in 1962 featured a Ski Show that was sponsored by local beer distributor Olympia Brewing Company whose tagline was "It's the water." The water spectacular was held in the 12,600-seat Memorial Stadium where a 26-foot wide and four-foot high oval-shaped tank, or 'aquadome,' was built to contain 700,000 gallons of water. Shows featured high speed water skiers, ski jumps, barefoot water skiing, human pyramids, acrobatics, costumed productions, and racing motorboats. Guy Murren, who worked in Engineering and Maintenance Services at the Fair, acquired this trick water ski which has about a dozen signatures (possibly the performers or his coworkers?), along with the places they were from.
