Seattle Pilots Louisville Slugger Little League baseball bat with Don Mincher signature, 1969
Order an ImageThe Pilots baseball team were launched in Seattle as an American League team in 1969. They became the Milwaukee Brewers after their one and only season. The donor of this Little League bat, which is shorter than regulation length, was 13 when he received it as a souvenir at a Pilots game in Sick's Stadium. He remembers being thrilled for Seattle to have a major league team as he had only previously watched MLB games in black and white on the television. He went to several games and remembers the uncomfortable seats, the seventh inning stretch, and the organ that played during the game. Donald Ray Mincher (1938–2012), the player whose signature is on the bat, manned first base for the Pilots in 1969.
