The Presidents of the United States of America was an alternative rock band formed in Seattle in 1993. Their song "Supersonics" was released as a promotional CD during the Seattle basketball team’s appearance in the 1996 NBA Finals. The music was the same as their song "Supermodel," but with rewritten lyrics which named stars of the team such as Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp, Detlef Schrempf, and “Big Smooth” (the nickname of Sam Perkins). The track also includes the voice of the SuperSonics, sportscaster Kevin Calabro.
