Multicolored sequin dress, 1991
This sequin dress was worn by Tracey Conway on the Seattle television comedy show Almost Live! which aired from 1984 to 1999 on KING5 in Seattle. In its earliest years, Almost Live! was like a local version of the Tonight Show, but in 1989 the format changed to be a 30-minute sketch comedy show. Cast member Tracey Conway moved to Seattle after earning an MFA in Drama from the University of Southern California and struggling to find acting work in LA. While temping in Human Resources at KING5 she started getting enlisted as an extra in Almost Live! sketches, including the infamous 1989 April Fool’s Day report about the collapse of the Space Needle. She became an official cast member in 1990 and remained on the show through the finale in 1999. Conway purchased this Adrienne Vittadini dress at the Loehmanns in Factoria in 1991. She wore it for the Season 8 opening credits, in several sketches in Season 9 and 10, and to her first Northwest Emmys award ceremony.
