Cylindrical tin for 3-4-1 Coffee from Crescent Manufacturing Company, ca. 1910
The Crescent Manufacturing Company was founded as the Larsen Extract Company in 1883 in Seattle, Washington. By the early twentieth century, Crescent began supplying fresh roasted coffee in addition to its baking powder, extracts, spices, and nuts. The "3-4-1" on this coffee can means "three pounds for one dollar." The back of the label states: " This coffee is a combination of the finest selected coffees, making a perfect blend and producing great strength, exquisite flavor and delicate aroma. This blend packed only in three pound tins, thoroughly preserving its original strength and flavor."
