Gill Centioli opened his 19-cent hamburger stand in the Rainier Valley neighborhood of Seattle in 1950. He soon operated three fast food drive-ins known as Gil's Hamburgers (dropping one "L") during the 1950s. Meanwhile, Harlan Sanders, prior to moving to Kentucky in 1952 to establish his world wide fast food chain, briefly worked as a cook (and possibly perfected his famous fried chicken), at The Salad Bowl on 5th Avenue in Seattle, as well as the Twin Teepees restaurant once located on Aurora Avenue. Centioli later met up with Sanders at a restaurant conference in 1957 and soon went into business with the Colonel, converting his three hamburger stands into Kentucky Fried Chicken outlets. By the time he retired in 1983, Centioli owned 42 KFC franchises and this pressure cooker was used at one of these outlets.
