This sharp ensemble, which includes a black dress with a white collar and black bolero jacket, is from The Bon Marché, one of Seattle’s largest and most influential department stores. It was made in New York by designer John Anthony. The label identifies it as being purchased from the “Northwest Room,” the Bon’s department for the highest-end designer fashions. Edward and Josephine Nordhoff founded The Bon Marché in 1890. They were inspired by the famed Paris department store Le Bon Marché (meaning “the good deal”). The Bon continued into the 21st century until it was renamed as part of the Macy’s brand.
