Brockman "Brock" Adams (1927-2004) served as a Washington State representative in the US House of Representatives from 1965 to 1977. From 1977 to 1979, he was the US Secretary of Transportation under Jimmy Carter. Adams also served as a US Senator representing Washington State from 1987 to 1993. After multiple women came forward with experiences of sexual harassment and abuse by Adams, he retired rather than run for re-election. His seat was won by Patty Murray, Washington’s first female senator.
