The Slo-Mo-Shun IV was designed by Ted Jones in conjunction with Stanley Sayres and Anchor Jensen of Jensen Motor Boat Company. Slo-Mo-Shun IV and her sister ship, Slo-Mo-Shun V, won the Gold Cup every year from 1950 to 1954. The badly twisted and broken metal pieces are what remains of the shaft and shaft log from the Slo-Mo-Shun IV when, during a practice run on Lake Washington in 1950, Lou Fageol, distinguished hydroplane racer, hit a log while going at a high rate of speed.
