The Seattle Star newspaper was established in 1899 by E. W. Scripps and ran until 1947, after being sold to Howard Parrish and other local Seattle businessmen in 1942. It had the smallest circulation of the three daily newspapers which included the Seattle Times and Seattle Post-Intelligencer. The donor of this newspaper bag carried a similar one for the Seattle Times when he was young to earn money to pay for his high school tuition and buy Roy Rogers comic books.
