Ship model of the SS Beaver made by modelmaker Ralph Hitchcock around 1980-2000

Built in 1835 London, the Beaver was the first steamship to reach the Northwest. She went up and down the coast, carrying goods from one Hudson Bay Company trading post to the next. This model was made by Ralph Hitchock (d. 2004), a maritime historian and noted Seattle modelmaker.
