Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) device, "Compaq iPAQ 3135 Pocket PC," 1999
This early PDA device or Pocket PC (Personal Computer), released in 1999, is part of a collection donated by a Microsoft employee who worked at the software company from 1999 to 2004. Microsoft would develop the software and prototype devices and then work with a manufacturing company, like Compaq, to build the PDA. The iPAQ uses a Windows Mobile interface and would come with "sleeve" accessories, or jackets, that slide around the device and add functionality such as a card reader, wireless networking, GPS, and extra batteries.
