Aldus Corporation was a software company founded in Seattle in 1984 that developed one of the earliest products of desktop publishing (DTP) software. The company is named after 15th-century Venetian printer Aldus Manutius. PageMaker 4.2 was released in 1991. Three of the founders of Aldus left the company in 1990 to establish Visio Corporation and created a product which later became known as Microsoft Office Visio.
