Aldus software package, "SnapShot," 1987
Aldus Corporation was a software company founded in Seattle in 1984 that developed one of the earliest products of desktop publishing (DTP) software. The company is named after 15th-century Venetian printer Aldus Manutius. SnapShot, an instant electronic photography software, was released in 1987. Three of the founders of Aldus left the company in 1990 to establish Visio Corporation and created a product which later became known as Microsoft Office Visio.
