Brothers Raj and Akhil Shah launched Shah Safari as teenagers in 1975. The Seattle company designed, manufactured, and imported lightweight, breezy gauze shirts from India. After just eight years in business, Shah Safari owned 24 percent of the national young men’s woven shirt market. Michael J. Fox wore a Shah Safari shirt in the 1985 movie "Back to the Future." Since then, Shah Safari has re-released the iconic style several times.
