Tommy Bahama three-piece Island Active ensemble with floral print, 2018
Tommy Bahama was founded in Seattle in 1992 by employees from several other Seattle companies including Britania, Generra and UNIONBAY. Tommy Bahama released its “IslandActive” line, including this women's ensemble, starting in 2017 to capitalize on the athleisure trend—clothing made for exercise but designed to be seen and worn outside the gym. Tropical prints are a Tommy Bahama hallmark. In-house artists create them at the company’s headquarters in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood, far from the settings that inspire their illustrations.
